Police in Kent and Essex have issued a warning over conmen who have tricked local residents out of thousands of pounds to fix drainage faults, that didn’t even exist.

Drain cleaner finds rolex watches in Southend drains
A street cleaner has found four valuable watches whilst cleaning drains opposite Chalkwell Railway station for Southend Council.
Aaron Large, from Rayleigh in Essex, handed the valuable timepieces into the local police station.
If the owners of the watches do not come forward within thirty days, then the watches become the property of one very happy drain cleaner!

Damaged Brentwood drains left unfixed says ex-councillor
It has been reported in the excellent Brentwood Gazette, that a former local councillor, Robin French, is unhappy with the lack of action in repairing numerous damaged drain covers on the Hutton Industrial Estate in Brentwood.
A young girl was left injured after an incident in Britannia Road. Mr French, of Storr Gardens in Brentwood, claims that some of the drains have not been repaired for up to a year. Continue reading
Dog rescued from drain in Maidstone area on Christmas Day
“Scrap” the dog was rescued from a drainage pipe in the village of East Peckham, between Tonbridge and Maidstone. The much loved family pet that got stuck in a concrete drain has been rescued after a two-hour operation.
A Kent Fire and Rescue service crew was called to Bullen Lane, East Peckham nr Maidstone on Christmas Day after the terrier had been stuck down the drain for about 11 hours. Continue reading

£25 million to be spent on “super drain” across Isle of Grain
Kent & Essex Drains have learnt from informed sources of preliminary plans for a “super drain” to be built across the Isle of Grain.
The “Grain Drain” will cost up to 25 million and stretch from the village of Grain, via Kingsnorth to the medway town of Strood.
The “Grain Drain” presumably will be necessary for the £50 billion Thames Estuary Airport which is being considered by the Government. Continue reading
Gillingham man gets stuck in drain after manhole cover theft
A Gillingham man had to be rescued by emergency services last week after getting stuck in a drain, stolen that night by scrap metal thieves.
Martin Burleigh, of Priestfield Road in Gillingham, known to his friends as “Tiny”, was returning from playing a darts match and on his way home, when he suddenly disappeared down the open drain. He tried to pull himself out, but was wedged in. Continue reading
Car thieves throw Harlow man’s pet dog ashes down drain
The Harlow Star in Essex have reported how car thieves have thrown a Harlow man’s pet dog ashes down the drain. Philip Moore’s Suzuki Swift was stolen and vandalised. The car was recovered only to discover the box containing the pet dog’s ashes had been emptied down a drain. Tunbridge Wells man’s new movie, “Snakes in a Drain”
Tommy Robson, a retired drain cleaning operative, from Rusthall, near Tunbridge Wells, Kent is trying to set up with meetings with film makers in the UK and across in Hollywood.
The current working title of his film is “Snakes in a Drain”. Tommy says “I have been working on this idea for over ten years, but it is only now that I have prepared a script.”
Tommy who worked in the drain cleaning business for over thirty years in the Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks area said “I must have been down thousands of drains throughout my working life. I have seen some things that would make your hair curl! People don’t like dark confined smelly spaces and the thought of a snake in the drain, sends a shiver down peoples spines.” Continue reading
